AGMK starts construction of new copper smelting furnace

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Almalyk Mining and Smelting Combine (AGMK) started to construct new copper smelting furnace with the capacity of 17,000 tonnes of copper a year, RIA Novosti repoted qupoting source in the company.
The project cost is US$98.2 million. Germany’s Ausmelt will supply equipment on turn key bases.
The project will be implemented till the end of 2014. The project will be finance due to loan of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan for US$60 million, own resources of AGMK – US$25 million and loans of the Uzbek banks – US$13.2 million.
AGMK is an only producer of copper in Uzbekistan. The main resource base of AGMK are Kalmakyr and Sary-Cheku fields, as well as Uch-Kulach and Khandiza fields.
