Uzbek telecommunication sphere attracted over US$1.083 billion in 1991-2007, the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information’s (UzACI) seminar said.
The website of UzACI said some US$384 million were attracted under the guarantee of the Uzbek government and US$699 million were foreign direct investments.
The website added that over 1.8 million telephone capacities were digitilized. The installed capacity of local telephone stations reached over 2 million.
It added that over 10,000 km of fibre optic and microwave lines. The number of mobile communication users comprised 5 million.
