Uzbek-Turkmen inter-governmental commission to be held in late February

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A joint Uzbek-Turkmen commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation will be held in Tashkent on 21-23 February 2011, the session of the Government of Turkmenistan said.
During the session, Turkmen President Gurbanguli Berdymuhamedov underlined importance of increasing efficiency of interaction with neghbouring states, including Uzbekistan.
Gurbanguli Berdymuhamedov said that inter-governmental commissions recommended themselves as effective mechanism on deepening and developing relations with the partner countries.
Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan made up US$22.8 million in eleven months of 2010, which is up by 42% year-on-year. Exports of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan made up US$119.5 million and import from Uzbekistan – US$103.5 million.
