Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – A "Corner of Chinese Culture: Nishan Bookstore" has opened in Samarkand. 

Culture is colorful thanks to exchange, and civilization thanks to mutual learning. So, on 12 October 2023, the propaganda department of the Jinan City Party Committee held the opening ceremony of the “Corner of Chinese Culture: Nishan Bookstore” at Samarkand National University in Uzbekistan. 

The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister, Head of the Advertising Department of the Jinan Municipal Party Committee Sun Shihui and Director of the Municipal Department of Civilization, as well as Vice President of Samarkand State University Akmal Akhatov. 

The city of Samarkand is located in the central part of Uzbekistan. The area of the city is 108 square kilometers, the population is about 560 thousand people. It is located about 300 kilometers from the capital Tashkent. It is the second largest city in Uzbekistan. The city is also a famous ancient city, a tourist and cultural center in Central Asia, an important hub city on the Great Silk Road and is known as the "Pearl of the Ancient Silk Road". 

In 2019, the cities of Jinan and Samarkand signed an Agreement on Friendship and cooperation, opening a new chapter of friendly cooperation between the two cities. In 2023, the initiative for the joint construction of the Belt and Road will be 10 years old. The opening of the "Corner of Chinese Culture - Nishan Bookstore" will contribute to strengthening friendship and cooperation between cities, promoting the spirit of the Silk Road and promoting mutual study of civilizations. 

By providing bilingual Chinese books that meet the needs and reading habits of foreign readers, it is important to tell the story of Jinan, spread the voice of Jinan and build a bridge for an in-depth exchange of views between the two cities.

As a platform for cultural communication, the Nishan bookstore will help Uzbek scientists, students and representatives of all walks of life to gain a deeper understanding of the history, culture and social development of Jinan, which is of great importance for cultural communication and friendly cooperation between Jinan and Samarkand.
