Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Yandex Uzbekistan has introduced its custom-designed electric bicycles for couriers at the ICT Week conference.

According to the company, these bicycles will be available in Tashkent starting in October. They are equipped with an IoT module for enforced speed control to ensure safe riding and feature a convenient design with a movable rack for thermal bags. Couriers for the Eats service in Yandex Go will be able to use these electric bicycles as soon as October.

The electric bicycle is designed to reduce delivery times, and the built-in IoT module helps monitor and smoothly reduce the bike’s speed in crowded areas.

A slow-speed mode allows couriers to easily carry the bike up stairs, such as in underground or overground passages.

The bicycles will arrive in Tashkent in October 2024 and will be available for couriers fulfilling Eats orders in Yandex Go.

“Our electric bicycle for couriers embodies our understanding of how couriers manage their orders and what their day consists of. This has resulted in a comfortable yet reliable vehicle with safety features tailored to their needs. I am looking forward to feedback from the first couriers who will test the bike in October,” commented Stanislav Datsko, head of Yandex Eats in Uzbekistan.

For the couriers’ convenience, the electric bicycle is equipped with a rack for securing thermal bags. The wheels have wide fenders to protect clothing and bags from splashes. The seat is designed to accommodate people of various heights and builds, minimizing fatigue even on long trips. The bicycle also includes a USB port for charging smartphones.
