Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Yandex opens acceptance of applications for the international scientific prize Yandex ML Prize. Researchers who become prize winners will receive 70 million soums, and scientific supervisors - 140 million soums*.

Yandex Cloud will also provide grants to the winners, which will allow them to perform cloud computing on the platform, process experimental data and train ML models.

The prize is awarded to young researchers, supervisors and teachers for achievements in the field of computer vision, natural language processing and machine translation, speech recognition and synthesis, information retrieval and data analysis, and generative models.

In 2024, the prize will be awarded in five categories:

"First publication".

"Researchers".

"Scientific supervisors".

"ML Teachers".

“Yandex services and technologies are based, among other things, on machine learning technologies,” said Artem Babenko, head of Yandex Research. “That’s why we actively support scientific developments, help young researchers find their way in science, and are happy to share our expertise in the field of artificial intelligence with them. It is important that scientists remain in science, because their discoveries can lead to breakthrough technologies that can make the lives of millions of people better.”

Applications will be accepted from 6 May to 21 June. The Yandex ML Prize will be awarded in the fall of 2024. The award’s expert council includes AI researchers and international experts.

The 2023 award winners are researchers whose work in the future will make it possible to generate highly detailed computer graphics, improve the accuracy of search and recommendation systems, and improve the coherence of responses from smart assistants that can work equally well with text and images.

The Yandex ML Prize has been awarded since 2019. Over five years, 50 people received the award: 34 researchers, 13 scientific supervisors, 1 teacher. The scientific work of the award winners formed the basis for algorithms, methods and technologies that are used in many Yandex products, for example, Search, Alice and unmanned vehicles.
