Yandex opens access to a series of lectures on the use of technology to solve social problems

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Yandex opened access to a series of lectures on the use of technology to solve social problems.

Lectures are intended for schoolchildren and adapted to their level of knowledge; they are available in Uzbek and Russian. A series of lectures is devoted to the use of technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, to solve pressing social problems. They are led by the heads of various Yandex departments.

For the first time, a series of lectures was held for participants of Technovation Girls, an international STEM and business program for girls, which is implemented in Uzbekistan with the support of Yandex, NGO Tech4impact and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation.

Recordings of lectures can be found on the Technovation Uzbekistan YouTube channel.

The following lectures are available in the lecture program:

-How to make the application accessible to people with disabilities. Valeria Kurmak, head of inclusion at Yandex

-How AI helps in social and environmental projects. Anna Lemyakina, director of national and strategic projects at Yandex Cloud

-How Yandex Taxi distributes orders, and what technologies make trips safer. Anna Kozlinskaya, head of the ML development team at Yandex Taxi

-How to build effective communication in a team. Daria Zolotukhina, HR Director at Yandex

“In every country where Yandex exists, we invest in education and developing interest in IT from school. This is a long-term investment in the future generations of specialists who will enter the industry. To do this, it is necessary to create a database of current knowledge. Lectures are one step in this direction.

They help develop creative thinking, expand their understanding of modern technologies, inspire children to new ideas and, possibly, their own projects,” said Daria Zolotukhina, HR Director of Yandex.

“Studying technology helps develop analytical and critical skills. Participants in our program and everyone else can study the principles of operation of IT solutions, analyze their impact on society and the environment, and also evaluate the ethical and social aspects of using technologies,” emphasizes Elena Selezneva, regional ambassador of Technovation in Uzbekistan.
