Yandex launches permanent charity program in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Yandex will open access to trips and deliveries of its services in the Yandex Go application for non-profit organizations in Uzbekistan. The wards of the foundations and specialized specialists - doctors, psychologists, rehabilitators will be able to use them.

The charity program will be permanent, now four organizations are connected to it: Ezgu Amal, ONA, SHAROIT PLUS, KAPALAK-BOLALAR. A Yandex representative spoke about the details of the program at a press conference on June 22:

“It is important for us that the Yandex Go service be convenient and comfortable for users with different needs. For example, special features are already available when ordering a trip - you can specify that the passenger is in a wheelchair or is hard of hearing. The driver will see information about this and be able to help.

Now another very important project for us is starting - a permanent program to support charitable organizations and their beneficiaries. We welcome the opportunity to use our resources and technology to help those in need. We hope that this program will allow the funds’ beneficiaries to receive specialist assistance faster, get to treatment and work with the necessary comfort,” said Evgeny Shumilov, Director for Government Relations in International Markets, Yandex Go.

“Creating an inclusive society is an important goal for the Ministry. It combines the development of infrastructure, and support for social projects, and increasing the accessibility of the environment for all citizens. The Yandex project demonstrates the willingness of businesses to contribute to this goal and invest in the common good. Opening access to funds to charity trips and deliveries, the company actively promotes a more inclusive society. It is also an important example of systematic work in the field of charity,” said Erkin Mukhitdinov, Deputy Minister of Employment and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Representatives of four charitable organizations also spoke at the press conference.

“The program of charitable trips and deliveries is very relevant for foundations - this will greatly facilitate the work of charitable organizations and allow them to direct their efforts to other urgent tasks. I am very pleased that this is not the first socially significant initiative of Yandex in Uzbekistan - we have been interacting with the Yandex Go service since 2020 and are pleased with such long-term cooperation. Support was especially tangible during the creation of the first children’s hospice in Uzbekistan. Yandex Go provided a great opportunity for our volunteers, who came to the hospice outside the city for more than a month and helped prepare the building for the opening,” said Munira Khodjakhanova, co-founder and chairman of the board of the Ezgu Amal Foundation.

Each month, charities receive promotional codes for an agreed travel and delivery budget, which they can allocate depending on current transportation needs. Specialists and wards of the funds will be able to use promotional codes through the Yandex Go application. The program applies to trips and deliveries in any of the tariffs.

“Butterfly children diagnosed with epidermolysis bullosa face a lot of difficulties even in the most daily activities, including traveling by public transport to clinics and rehabilitation centers. This program will help make their lives more comfortable. Our wards are fragile, but very courageous, and we are grateful to Yandex Go for their cooperation,” said Madamin Khaldarbekov, dermatologist and representative of the non-profit organization KAPALAK-BOLALAR.

The project will operate in all cities where Yandex Go has a presence in Uzbekistan. This initiative is part of the ongoing social direction of the service - the accessibility screen has also become available in the application, where options for users with disabilities are collected.
