Yandex introduces a new generation of Alice in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Yandex introduced a new generation of Alice, which works based on the YandexGPT neural network.

Now the users can communicate with a virtual assistant as with an intelligent, thoughtful interlocutor. Alice learned to explain complex concepts and phenomena, offer ideas, and maintain the context of the conversation. It is available to users on all major devices and platforms in Uzbekistan.

Alice will explain complex things in simple terms. For example, she will tell the users how a tornado occurs and how a steam humidifier differs from an ultrasonic one.

Until now, Alice answered about 60% of the questions, and in other cases she offered to look for the answer on the Internet or send search results. Thanks to the YandexGPT neural network, Alice now answers 95% of questions and can name the source of information if she found it on the site.

With Alice, the users can now create something new without going into “Let’s make it up” mode. For example, the users can simply ask: “Alice, what should I give my colleague?” or “Alice, what should I cook for breakfast?” And for working with texts, a separate Chat with Alice has appeared on a.ya.ru - it is convenient to compose theses, slogans and other texts in it. The chat is synchronized between devices: if you start a conversation on a computer, it’s easy to continue on your smartphone. You can also have several chats with Alice at the same time: for example, write text with her in one, and ask questions in another. Context and communication history are stored in each chat for 14 days.

The users can communicate with Alice as with a person, moving from one topic to another. The assistant learned to maintain the context of the conversation. For example, if the users ask Alice to recommend a small dog and then ask “how much time should you spend on it?” — Alice will understand from the context what it’s about. The virtual assistant began asking additional questions, as people do when they don’t understand something. And if the interlocutor is distracted or thoughtful, Alice will wait for his answer.

By expanding the capabilities of the virtual assistant, the Yandex team adheres to the principles of responsible development and use of generative AI. This means that the virtual assistant speaks carefully about sensitive topics and indicates the source of information.
