Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Within the framework of ICT Week, Yandex presented a number of technological solutions from various fields that may appear in Uzbekistan. The company creates innovative products based on machine learning and neural networks and integrates more than 85 user services.
Some of them have long been launched in the country and have become part of the daily life of Uzbeks, for example: specialized search and voice assistant, travel booking and delivery, movies, series and playlists with one subscription. What new Yandex plans to launch in a promising market, representatives of the service said.
Educational projects
The company is discussing with the Ministry of Public Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan the launch of the School of Programming in the new academic year in two cities: Tashkent and Samarkand. The free annual program will allow students in grades 8-10, who have passed the selection, to master Python, learn how to create web applications, chat bots and user interfaces. There are already educational projects for schoolchildren in Armenia, Kazakhstan and Russia; since 2016, 22,000 students have successfully mastered programming courses.
Sergei Brazhnik, Director for the Development of Educational Projects at Yandex, said: “Now Uzbekistan is actively developing in the field of IT, and the demand for highly qualified specialists is growing accordingly. Our programming school has shown its effectiveness in different countries. This modern professional programming education course makes an important contribution to the education system - it attracts talented motivated students, develops in them the skills necessary for a specialist in the era of the digital economy and improves the qualifications of teachers. We expect that, with the support of the ministry, we will launch the program in Uzbekistan by the beginning of the new academic year.”
Negotiations Yandex Refueling
Another service of the company that is interested in launching in Uzbekistan is Yandex Refueling. The service is currently negotiating with a number of gas stations. The solution is convenient for both users and fuel networks. Payment from the application allows drivers to save time: there is no need to go to the cashier and stand in line. And for stations, such a solution helps to increase throughput and becomes a tool to attract new customers.
“In Uzbekistan, we see great interest from partners. Another point of intersection, in addition to paying for gas motor fuel at conventional gas stations, is the infrastructure for electric vehicles. Now the country is actively discussing projects for the development of the electric vehicle industry. We have a solution for this promising direction as well. For example, in the service it will be possible to find out the location of electric charges, their status - free or busy, and also build a route to them, ”shared Artem Prudnikov, head of the Yandex Refueling service.
Development of the Yandex Go service
The Yandex Go online service for ordering trips was launched in 2018, and is already available in 8 cities of the country and intends to actively develop in new ones. Kirill Svintsov, Development Director of Yandex Taxi in the CIS, shared his plans: “We continue to launch an affordable and convenient way to travel in new cities. In the coming months, residents of Nukus, Karshi and Urgench will be able to use our application. The service will continue to invest in security. For example, biometrics is enabled in the driver’s application, and automated speed control systems work on orders. We help partners to monitor the quality of services using a rating system and remote quality control of the condition of cars. We are already negotiating with companies to launch our program of additional free life and health insurance for passengers and drivers in the country. Such insurance is automatically extended to all trips of the service. Soon we will also tell about our new developments in Uzbekistan.”
