Xylem TRIO to give concert in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Jazz group Xylem TRIO – Rihards Zaļupe, Raimonds Petrauskis and Oskars Petrauskis – will give a concert in Uzbekistan on 6 May 2015.

The Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in the Republic of Uzbekistan organized the concert in co-operation with State Conservatory of Uzbekistan and under the auspices of the UNESCO Office in Tashkent.

The concert will conclude the International Jazz Festival in Tashkent and open the celebration of Europe Day events, organised by the Delegation of European Union in Uzbekistan.

Xylem TRIO was formed in 2006 when three internationally recognized musicians Oskars Petrauskis, Raimonds Petrauskis and Rihards Zaļupe came together. Each of them has proven themselves as soloists and serious chamber musicians.

Xylem TRIO is about combining piano, saxophone and marimba/percussion. This is a rather unconventional ensemble and there is not much repertoire written for such a combination of instruments. Nevertheless, Xylem TRIO performs a wide spectrum of music – from arrangements of classical music (J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel etc.) to folk songs, jazz and contemporary movie scores; the music is arranged by the musicians themselves fusing together elements of world, jazz and academic music.

Xylem TRIO also plays contemporary original music written specially for them. Xylem TRIO regularly performs throughout Latvia including all the biggest concert halls and collaborates with concert organization Latvijas Koncerti and National Radio and Television. The Trio has also played at Three Star Order presentation ceremony as well as given concerts abroad.

Composer Raimonds Tiguls’ album „A Christmas Letter” featuring Xylem TRIO received the Latvian Music Records Award 2009. Xylem TRIO’s first album „In The Mood Of Giya Kancheli” received the Latvian Music Records Award 2010 in categories Best instrumental, film or theatre album and Best Debut.
