CHONGQING, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Xinhua News Agency on Wednesday launched a reporting activity on the progress of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), as the 10th anniversary of initiative approaches.

Themed "Chasing Dreams Along the Belt and Road," the event covers reporting activities in five provincial-level regions in China, including Chongqing, Shaanxi, Ningxia, Gansu and Xinjiang, and 15 countries including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, Serbia, Germany, France, Spain, and Portugal.

The reporting team started its journey at home from southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality on Wednesday and will set off for the overseas trip from the Horgos Port in northwest Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in early September.

A variety of forms of news reports such as articles, posters, documentaries, short videos, vlogs, and live broadcasts will be produced during the event, and technologies including augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) will be applied in reporting.

The team will also hold BRI-themed exchange activities during the trip in places such as Astana, Kazakhstan and Istanbul, Türkiye.

In 2013, China put forward the BRI to foster new drivers for global development. From 2014 to 2016, Xinhua News Agency held the reporting activity for three consecutive years and conducted interviews in nearly 30 countries along the Belt and Road.
