World War II veterans to receive 20 million soums on the Day of Remembrance and Honor

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 May 2024, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Decree “On encouraging participants in the Second World War.”

Each participant and disabled person of the Second World War will receive a one-time cash reward in the amount of 20,000,000 (twenty million) soums.

The document notes that the reward is paid “for the purpose of widespread celebration in the country of May 9 - the Day of Remembrance and Honor as a national holiday, perpetuating the memory of ancestors who died in the Second World War, honoring veterans, as well as material incentives for participants and disabled war veterans in connection with 79th anniversary of the Victory over fascism."

According to the Presidential Decree, expenses will be made from the republican budget.

Ministries and departments have been instructed to ensure the presentation of this monetary reward to participants and disabled people of the Second World War in a solemn and festive atmosphere.

In 2013, each veteran received 500,000 soums, in 2014 – 600,000, in 2017 – 2 million, in 2018 – 5 million, in 2019 – 7.5 million, in 2020 – 10 million, in 2021 – 12 million soums and in 2022 – 15 million soums.
