Youth audience is in constant focus of communications strategy which includes a wide variety of youth targeted activities and events. Youth Open House is the annual event hosted by Public Information Center (PIC) serving an umbrella for the national chapter of Youth Development and Peace Network. The Network was established at the first Youth Open House event in 2004.

It is well-known that in Uzbekistan 2011 was declared the "Year of small business and entrepreneurship" and the Open House was announced with the same topic. This year the participants included the young people interested in starting up private business including the activists of the Fund Forum of Uzbekistan and "Kelajak ovozi" Youth Initiatives Centre, the students learning business, economics and finance.

The agenda of the Open House was developed so that young people could learn, share, discuss and have fun and included a number of other activities. Takuya Kamata, the World Bank Country Manager of Uzbekistan greeted the young people and answered their questions. The event gave the young people an opportunity to take part in the master class on How to start-up private business. The lecturer, who has a wide experience in private business development, gave some tips and hints on avoiding stumbling blocks when developing a business plan and searching for finance.

The participants also learned more about the World Bank's youth focused activities in Uzbekistan and YDP Network; they interacted with various staff members, visited Public Information Center, made a tour around the office and asked questions. The information on the World Bank resources for youth was met with great interest.

As a result of the event, a number of participants became the members of the YDP national chapter and came up with some interesting initiatives which would be considered.
