World Bank training on the topic “National Strategy for Increasing Financial Accessibility, Its Importance and Significance”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) –– From 30 September to 4 October 2019, the mission of the World Bank group headed by the leading specialist in the financial sector E. Totolo stayed in the Central Bank.

During the mission’s visit on 3 October, in order to implement the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 23 July 2019 No. PP-4400 “On measures to increase the availability of microfinance services”, a training was held with the participation of ministries and departments that are provided as participating parties for the implementation of the National financial inclusion strategies: Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy and Industry, Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, Ministry of Justice, CCI, Women's Committee and others.

The training participants were explained in detail the tasks and goals of the National Strategy for Financial Accessibility, information was provided on the necessary work in the field of developing financial infrastructure, digital payments and introducing innovative products, financial education and protecting the rights of consumers of financial services, as part of this strategy.

Also presented is the structure of the draft National Strategy for Financial Accessibility of Uzbekistan, developed jointly with the World Bank, its main components and foreign experience.

At the training, the participants discussed the further stages of the implementation of the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to increase the availability of microfinance services” and an agreement was reached on the creation of working groups, with the participation of a representative of each of the departments, to develop an action plan to increase financial affordability.
