Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Work on the integration of UZCARD and HUMO payment systems is coming to an end. This was stated by the Chairman of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan Mamarizo Nurmuratov.
Several banks have already launched relevant solutions in pilot mode, and new developments are in the testing phase.
He noted that in the next 10 days, the full implementation of the integration of both systems throughout the country is planned.
The integration of UZCARD and HUMO was envisaged by a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers back in June 2020 as part of measures to combat the shadow economy in Uzbekistan. In December 2021, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan introduced an updated software for terminals that allows you to accept cards from both payment systems. Previously, devices could only work with cards, the firmware for which was installed on them.
Mamarizo Nurmuratov said that the system integration process was resumed in January 2023. To complete it, it was necessary to agree on a number of technical and other issues between the state-owned HUMO and the privatized UZCARD.
In March, the president signed a decree according to which ATMs of both systems must accept HUMO and UZCARD cards by the end of May, and by the end of the year the task was set to ensure the operation of terminals with any cards in order to complete the integration.
