Working group of the project "Women Economic Empowerment in Central Asia" holds a meeting

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 March, the Republican Commission on the Advancement of the Role of Women in Society, Gender Equality and the Family, together with the US Embassy in Uzbekistan, held an online meeting of the working group of the project "Women Economic Empowerment in Central Asia" (WEE) to develop proposals aimed at increasing the economic activity of women in Central Asia and discuss the implementation of the e-Government system in the region.

The Central Asian Women’s Economic Empowerment project is organized by the US Department of Commerce and the US Department of State. It aims to support business and entrepreneurship projects carried out by women in the region, as well as the development of e-commerce.

During the event, a presentation was made on the work carried out on "electronic government" and ensuring gender equality in our country by a working group consisting of members of the Senate Committee on Women and Gender Equality, senior officials of the State Committee for Family and Women Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry investment and foreign trade, the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications, the National Agency for Project Management, the State Committee on Statistics.

The dialogue discussed best practices to stimulate more online public services and encourage evidence-based policy development that promotes women’s active participation in the formal economy, streamlining public business registration services.

In addition, the opportunity was considered to take the dialogue between the private sector and public servants to a new level, the issue of encouraging and strengthening, raising specific questions for the private sector in certain priority areas that impede the economic empowerment of women in the region.

The event was also attended by representatives of the ministries of justice, statistics and gender issues of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

The participating countries made a number of proposals on the issues under discussion.
