Women Who Have Experienced Discrimination and Violence to Receive Employment Priority
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has held a first reading of a draft law amending Uzbekistan’s Law “On Employment of the Population.”
The bill aims to expand employment opportunities and strengthen social protection for women who have suffered from discrimination and violence. Under the proposed amendments, such women would be given priority for employment in state organizations, provided they possess the necessary knowledge and skills. This would be based on applications from Inson social service centers and lists submitted to local labor authorities.
In addition, these women will be registered with labor authorities as job seekers.
During the discussions, deputies highlighted the relevance of the bill, raised questions to its initiators, and received detailed explanations.
Following the session, the draft law was approved in the first reading.
