Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Women trying to sell their children were detained in four cities of Uzbekistan. This was announced by the State Security Service (SSS).
In Gulistan, a 33-year-old woman tried to sell her newborn son for US$40,000.
In Termez, a 31-year-old woman conspired with a 42-year-old woman to sell her newborn daughter for 25 million soums.
In Tashkent, a 27-year-old woman was detained while trying to sell her six-year-old son for US$3,000.
In Namangan, a 29-year-old woman agreed to sell her ten-year-old son for US$18,000.
In all cases, criminal cases have been initiated under the article “trafficking in persons” of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.
