Women from China and Central Asia open a new chapter in cultural exchange and cooperation in Xiamen

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 9 to 10 September, the China-Central Asia Forum on Women’s Development was organized under the leadership of the All-China Women’s Federation, SCO, the Committee of Good Neighborhood, Friendship and Cooperation, the People’s Government of Fujian Province, as well as the Women’s Association of Fujian Province and the city government of Xiamen, was held in Xiamen. This forum is an important event within the framework of the 10th China-Central Asia Cooperation Forum.

Ms. Makhkamova, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, expressed hope for cooperation with all parties present to implement initiatives and projects related to the development of women, including cooperation on the development of women in the fields of tourism, economics and trade.

Ms. Akbagysheva, Chairman of the Women’s Congress of Kyrgyzstan, believes that at present, women in China and Central Asia need to exchange development experiences, jointly discuss development plans, and jointly participate in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. According to reports, with the support of the Chinese Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic, the Kyrgyz side launched a social project called “Cultural Women, Cultural Country,” while the “Sewing Training Center” built jointly with the All-China Women’s Federation is also successfully functioning.

In Kazakhstan, gender equality is one of the important pillars of national policy. During his speech, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to China Nuryshev expressed his readiness to exchange experiences in strengthening the role of women in government, in business, in academia, in non-governmental institutions and in other areas, for the benefit of peoples of all countries.

In the universities of Kyrgyzstan, the teaching and scientific staff mainly consists of women, which is more than 70%, including doctors of sciences and candidates of sciences. They engage in scientific research in important areas. According to Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences and Honorary Member of the Women’s Congress of Kyrgyzstan Sultanalieva, as part of the One Belt, One Road initiative, higher educational institutions of Kyrgyzstan are opening “Confucius Institutes”, many volunteers from China teach Chinese at these “Confucius Institutes”.

Over the past five years, more than 200 people have received higher education, many of whom received certificates of testing their knowledge of the Chinese language.
