Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Authorities in Tashkent have detained a 22-year-old resident of Akhangaran, Tashkent region, identified as Kh.T., for attempting to send her 20-year-old acquaintance, Z.O., to Istanbul for prostitution.

The operation to apprehend the suspect was conducted by officers of the Tashkent Regional Main Department of Internal Affairs and the State Security Service in Akhangaran, according to the press service of the regional police department.

The suspect had convinced her acquaintance to travel to Türkiye, promising lucrative opportunities in Istanbul, where Turkish nationals were allegedly waiting to meet her.

A criminal case has been initiated against Kh.T. under Article 135 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code (Human Trafficking).

Investigative actions are currently underway.
