Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A woman beat her six-year-old niece to death in the Bukinsky district of Tashkent region, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office said.

According to the department, citizen A.T. left his daughter Ch.A. under the care of his sister N.I.

On 12 March, at about 01:00, the woman began to punish the girl, pinching and hitting her with a stick, because she had not done her homework and had lied.

Law enforcement authorities opened a criminal case under Article 104 of the Criminal Code (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm), and the woman was taken into custody.

On Friday, 15 March, six-year-old C.A. died in the hospital, despite receiving medical care.

A preliminary investigation is currently underway.
