Without marking in the state language the state body not give a sanitary and epidemiological conclusion

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- By Presidential Decree, amendments were made to the regulatory legal acts regulating the conditions for the import of certain goods, as well as a number of customs procedures, Norma reports.

We list the main changes that come into force on 1 January 2024:

- the procedure for exemption from mandatory conformity assessment of products imported from individual states is cancelled;

- changes are made to the procedure for labeling imported goods in the state language.

For registration of consumer goods in the import regime, marking of goods in the state language is not required. However, from 1 August 2020, a certificate of conformity has not been issued for certain types of consumer goods without marking in the state language. Now a similar rule has been extended to the issuance of a sanitary-epidemiological conclusion.

Thus, from 1 January 2024, a certificate of conformity and a sanitary and epidemiological conclusion will not be issued for goods from the relevant lists of the Cabinet of Ministers, if the manufacturer, its authorized representative or importer has not marked the packaging in the state language. It must be written in the Latin script of the Uzbek alphabet.

Marking in the state language, as before, is not required for goods without consumer packaging and imported for their own needs. The right to confirm the conformity of products by declaring is cancelled.

Business entities that have implemented quality management systems and use testing laboratories accredited in the national accreditation system can currently confirm the conformity of the products they produce in Uzbekistan by declaring. As of 1 January 2024, this privilege will be abolished.

From 1 January 2025, the customs clearance fee in the amount of 1.2% of the customs value for the import of and medical products is cancelled.

Of the planned changes:

responsible ministries automate the issuance of licenses for the import of goods;

by the end of the year, the system of subsidizing the compensation of transport costs should be brought into line with the requirements of the WTO;

the rates of customs duties charged for the clearance of goods under the customs regimes of "export" and "import" will also be unified in accordance with the requirements of the WTO.
