What is important to focus on for the further effective development of everything related to pregnancy management, newborn care, what clinical protocols are important to develop for this, how to bring the most up-to-date knowledge to the regions - these and other issues were the focus of the meeting.

As Nazokat Kasymova, adviser to the WHO country office in Uzbekistan, noted, the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology (GU RSNPMCAG) has a large experience of successful joint work in this direction with this world organization. Therefore, the expert opinion of the management and specialists of the Center on the most relevant areas of development in the field of maternal and child health, perinatal medicine, in which WHO can provide support, is so important.

Clinical protocols developed by the Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology are considered one of the most advanced and updated, including the maximum amount of new evidence-based medicine data that has appeared, Oleg Kuzmenko, an employee of the regional office of the World Health Organization, emphasized.

The specialists discussed further work on the development of new protocols and updating existing ones, since this guide to action for each medical worker should be constantly up to date and take into account new data and WHO recommendations.

One of the main topics of the meeting was also the creation of coaching teams of the most active and professional specialists to conduct systematically cascade trainings for obstetricians and gynecologists throughout the country. As Natalya Nadirkhanova, director of the RSNPMCAG, noted, the role of members of the management of medical institutions is important here. In particular, the chief doctors of clinics, deputy directors for medical affairs, heads of departments of maternity hospitals should be involved in the process.

“That is, it should be health policy in the first place,” the head of the Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology believes.

The participants of the discussion also noted that for the sustainability of the process of transferring new knowledge, it is important to involve in the teams of trainers well-selected practitioners who are interested in promoting the latest knowledge and skills in the regions, who can work with an audience of healthcare professionals.

Continuous education, as an indispensable condition for high-quality medical care for the population, is at the forefront of a radical reform of healthcare, strict adherence to clinical protocols in order to avoid errors in treatment, and the rejection of such a phenomenon as polypharmacy, that is, prescribing an excessive amount of drugs to the patient. The participants of the meeting spoke about this, noting that the availability of the most modern equipment will not give efficiency in examination and treatment without high-class specialists who can use it.
