WHO: over 12,500 people died from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to the World Health Organization, the number of people infected with coronavirus infection in the world is more than 83.32 million, of which more than 1.83 million people have died (as of 3 January 2021). 

Over the past day, 740,221 new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in the world, 12 502 patients have died.

According to current data from Johns Hopkins University (as of 10:22 am Tashkent time on 4 January 2021), more than 85.12 million people have been infected in the world, of which more than 1.84 million have died.

The leader in the number of confirmed cases remains the United States, where, according to WHO, more than 19.974 million infected have been identified. In second place is India (over 10.323 million), in third - Brazil (over 7.700 million), in fourth - Russia (3.236 million), in fifth - Great Britain (2.599 million).
