WHO Office head in Uzbekistan ends his mission in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Michel Tailhades, head of World Health Organization (WHO) Office in Uzbekistan, is ending his tenure in Uzbekistan and has been awarded with rank “Honored worker of Healthcare of Uzbekistan”.

Michel Tailhades has been awarded at the ceremony, which was held at the Ministry of Healthcare of Uzbekistan on 24 October 2011.

Minister of Healthcare Adham Ikramov handed over medal and underlined invaluable role of Michel Tailhades in improving healthcare system of Uzbekistan. He said that Uzbekistan pays special attention to development of health sector and this allowed to implement several significant projects in the country for several years.

Ikramov said: “It is worth to note great success, which we achieved during our joint work with invaluable and the WHO office in Uzbekistan. Work with Tailhades was fruitful and saturated.”

At the reception held at Applied Art Museum dedicated to the end of his mission, Michel Tailhades said: “Uzbekistan is country with great potential. I wished to work in the country for a long time and I am happy that my dreams come true. In last five years, WHO in Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Ministry of Health achieved great results in developing system of preventing and treating many diseases. During these years, I observed positive changes in healthcare system.”

Currently, WHO Office in Uzbekistan carries out projects, which reflect important directions of the organization’s activities in the country: decrease infection diseases, improve health of mothers, children and teenagers, and strengthen main functions of healthcare system.

WHO Office in Uzbekistan helps the country to achieve Millennium Development Goals, including raising people life standards, decrease child mortality, protection of motherhood, spread of HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria.
