Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A Cabinet of Ministers Resolution adopted a resolution “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Government Decisions of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with the Improvement of Water Supply and Sewerage Systems”.

The resolution introduces changes and additions to the rules for providing water supply and sewerage services to consumers:

- If cold water meters in new buildings are located outside of apartments (e.g., in stairwells, basements, etc.), the responsibility for the security of the meters and their installation is assigned to the water supply and sewerage organization.

Previously, Group I users were exempt from paying for prepaid utility services (including special surcharges) for a period not exceeding 12 months in the event of a tariff increase during that period. This period has now been reduced to 2 months.

Group I refers to individuals living in ordinary residential houses and apartments in multi-apartment buildings.

Additionally, the projects "Modernization of Water Supply and Sewerage Systems in Khorezm Region," "Modernization of Water Supply and Sewerage Systems in Namangan Region," and other regional projects have been extended.

In 2018, loan agreements were signed with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development for a US$120 million loan to finance two projects, with an initial implementation period of 4 years (2019–2022).
