When importing renewable energy sources, deferment of customs duties is allowed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government Resolution “On regulation and development of the organization of energy supply based on renewable energy sources” was adopted.

According to the Resolution, the Customs Committee:

- will launch the Green Energy information system by 1 February 2024 in a fully functional mode and transfer it to the Ministry of Energy;

- will ensure uninterrupted operation of the Green Energy information system and monitor the accuracy of the entered information.

The following is permitted:

- when importing renewable energy sources and their equipment, raw materials, components and spare parts, pay customs duties in installments without charging interest for a period of 120 days;

- payment of customs duties in installments over 6 months without the use of security for customs duties by entrepreneurs carrying out this import activity for more than 3 years, fulfilling their obligations on customs duties on time.

At the same time, the amount of customs duties paid by entrepreneurs over the last 3 years should not exceed 50 percent of the amount for which the payment period will be extended.

From 1 March 2024, the import of solar panels will be prohibited, the technical documentation or labeling of which does not contain information about the corresponding class “A”, “B”, “C” and “D”, representing the quality indicators of solar cells.

Solar panels are included in the list of products for which confirmation of compliance with the requirements of regulatory documents in the field of technical regulation is mandatory.

A testing laboratory will be organized to assess the compliance of renewable energy sources and their equipment, raw materials, components and spare parts with regulatory documents in the field of technical regulation.

Importers, through the customs information system "One Stop Shop Window", will be able to send applications for certification of renewable energy sources and their equipment, raw materials, components and spare parts to the conformity assessment bodies of the State Unitary Enterprise "Uzbek Center for Scientific Testing and Quality Control".
