Kim was sent-off for two bookable offences at JAR Stadium last week in a game tinged with controversy that was eventually settled in the Uzbekistan team’s favour thanks to two late goals from AFC Player of the Year Server Djeparov.
“Of course it would be better for him to be out there,” said Farias.
“He was great last week before he got sent off. However, our team knows what to do and I fully expect his replacement to have a strong game.”
While admitting his side were second best in Tashkent, Farias stressed their cause was not helped by what he saw as poor officiating when a stoppage-time goal that would have dramatically improved their lot was ruled out.
The Brazilian also felt the home crowd were guilty of some dubious practices during the game and promised a hot reception at the Pohang Steelyard for compatriot Luiz Felipe Scolari’s side.
“There were some very obvious mistakes that were made by the linesmen and referee during last week’s game,” Farias added.
“To have a clear goal not given along with several mysterious yellow cards, that makes it difficult for any away team to come away with victory.
“Last week they had the advantage of playing at home. Their fans pointed lasers at our goalkeeper’s eyes throughout the match. It was the first time our players had experienced that kind of atmosphere. Now it is time for them to experience our home fans.”
Scolari, meanwhile, stressed Bunyodkor would not be content to sit back and defend their two-goal advantage.
“We will attack from the beginning just as we did the last game,” he said.
“Pohang has the ability to score goals quickly and we will be prepared for their best attacks.”
Scolari also underlined that he would place no extra responsibility on either Djeparov or Rivaldo to try and nick a crucial away goal.
“We have eleven players that have been in this position before and they know what their job is,” he added.
“Eleven players have pressure on them to go out and finish what we started last week. I trust they will do their job.”
