Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan’s Akbar Djuraev won a gold medal in the weightlifting competition (men’s 109kg) in Tokyo Olympics.
Akbar Djuraev was trailing two-time world champion and Rio 2016 silver medallist Simon Martirosyan (ARM) by two kilograms after the snatch, but thanks to an Olympic record 237kg clean and jerk - as well as Martirosyan failing to hit 238kg twice - Djuraev finishes with an Olympic record total of 430kg to give Uzbekistan its third Olympic medal in weightlifting.
Akbar Djuraev won the second gold medal of Uzbekistan in the Tokyo Olympics. Uzbekistan has one bronze medal as well.
