The chairman of the 13th district electoral commission in Khorazm, R. Eshchonov, opened the meeting. The participants in the meeting were briefed on the candidate’s election platform. The platform stipulates such key issues like steadily continuing large-scale economic and sociopolitical reforms in the country, strengthening democracy, ensuring the supremacy of laws and social justice, supporting farming, small business and private entrepreneurship, further improving investment climate, reducing tax burden, widely introducing hi-tech into production and increasing people’s well-being.
Islam Karimov made a speech at the meeting.
Large-scale reforms being carried out in all spheres are giving their weighty results. The country’s economy is being further developed and people’s well-being is increasing. The pension system is being improved, the amounts of pensions and social welfare are being steadily increased as well as the population’s real incomes are growing. A process of modernizing and democratizing the country as well as liberalizing the economic and political spheres is under way. This is taking place due to attaching special attention to the efficiency of the reforms, implementing strategic tasks related to steadily increasing people’s prosperity and their incomes.
They especially noted that support for the candidacy of Islam Karimov was a reliable guarantee for the steadily continuation of large-scale reforms being carried out in the country, further developing the economy and increasing our people’s well-being. Those taking the floor called on the voters to actively take part in the presidential election in Uzbekistan scheduled for 23 December 2007.
