He said that all polling stations in Uzbekistan closed their doors at 20:00. He added that elections are continuing at polling stations in some polling stations, created at missions of Uzbekistan in Egypt, European countries and the United States.
The CEC chief said that 17.941 million people from 20.249 million registered voters casted their votes in presidential elections or 87.83% of total number of voters. He added that these numbers do not include date from polling stations, opened in foreign states.
He said that the vote counting is underway at the polling stations. The preliminary results will be announced on 5 December.
In accordance with Article 35 of the Law "On Elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan" elections of President of Uzbekistan declared valid. In line with the legislation of Uzbekistan, more than 33% of registered voters should turn up at the polls to recognize them as valid.
He added that the CEC did not receive any information on violations of election legislation during the voting.
About 600 observers from five international organizations – the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (ODIHR OSCE), Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Shanghai Cooperation Organization, World Association of electoral bodies and Organization of the Islamic Cooperation, as well as over 50 states – observed the elections.
In addition, more than 37,000 observers from political parties participated in the voting process.
