Voronezh and Bukhara regions sign cooperation memorandum

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The government of the Voronezh region (Russia) plans to develop relations with the Bukhara region of Uzbekistan in tourism, industry, and the agro-industrial complex.

The regions signed a corresponding memorandum of cooperation, reported Governor Alexander Gusev of the Voronezh region on his Telegram channel after the visit of the delegation from Uzbekistan.

"Over the past two years, we have managed to increase trade turnover with Uzbekistan. In 2023, exports of agro-industrial products from Voronezh to this republic amounted to $35.6 million. Tourism, the agro-industrial complex, and industry are just some of the areas in which we will develop cooperation with the Bukhara region. These issues were discussed during the meeting with the hokim of the region, Botir Zaripov," noted Gusev.

He also emphasized that the Bukhara region hosts unique historical sites and that the city of Bukhara is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

"The Ministry of Entrepreneurship, Trade, and Tourism of the Voronezh region and the Tourism Department of the Bukhara region of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed a memorandum of intent to cooperate in tourism. Both sides will inform each other about participation in exhibitions, congresses, fairs, seminars, and other events," added the press service of the Voronezh regional government.

Gusev also mentioned that cooperation with Uzbekistan will be developed in the fields of the food and petrochemical industries, construction materials production, and medical equipment manufacturing. "We already have positive experience in interacting with Uzbekistan. This state is among the top three countries in terms of trade interaction – in 2023, it amounted to almost $50 million," emphasized Gusev.
