Vladimir Spivakov to perform on the stage of the International Palace of Forums “Uzbekistan”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 May, a charity concert of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia under the direction of People’s Artist of the USSR, UNESCO Artist of the World Vladimir Spivakov will take place on the stage of the International Palace of Forums “Uzbekistan”.

Vladimir Spivakov and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia will present a program that is already loved by listeners in Moscow and many other cities of Russia. The maestro called it “A Corner of France”. Vladimir Spivakov has long been famous as a subtle connoisseur of French culture, and now he will delight Tashkent music lovers with exquisite interpretations of the masterpieces of French composers.

Under the direction of the maestro, fragments from the opera “Carmen” by Georges Bizet will be performed, transcribed by Rodion Shchedrin for strings and percussion instruments (“Carmen Suite”); Pavane of the “French Schumann” Gabriel Fauré - an appeal to the ancient genre of stately court dance; Jacques Ibert’s Paris Suite is a witty musical tour of the French capital in six movements; and the legendary Bolero by Maurice Ravel, a work that reflected the well-known passion of the author, a Basque mother, for Iberian culture.

Vladimir Spivakov talks about the program: “This is a journey to Paris, which we will carry out with the help of music. I know France well, I’ve been there and performed there many times, and now I wanted to “bring” France to Tashkent. Works by Ibert, Ravel, Fauré and “Carmen Suite” by Rodion Shchedrin, danced by the great Maya Plisetskaya, will be performed... Ibert’s Suite “Paris” consists of very vivid sketches: city suburbs, the metro, the Ile-de-France steamship, a restaurant in the Bois de Boulogne, a mosque and just a street festival. Continuing Hemingway’s idea that Paris is a holiday that is always with you, I will say that it is also an eternal holiday.”

The charity concert for students of musical and cultural institutions will be held with the support of the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan and the Art, Science and Sports Charitable Foundation.

Entry by invitation only.
