Uzbekistan24/12/2007Vladimir Churov: "Never watched such high level of organization of elections"
I became witness of active participation of citizens of Uzbekistan in presidential elections. It testifies that people are not indifferent to the future, development and prosperity of the country. It is worth to note wide informedness of voters with the electoral programs of candidates for presidency.
As the expert I wish to note, that the elections that are based on democratic principles do not mean a going after the demonstrations and meetings which provoke disorders. Uzbekistan which is confidently going on the way of construction of the democratic state, a legal society, the rights of ballot of voters are completely provided during today’s elections.
The fact that about 5000 voters who have left for Haj pilgrimage, have voted ahead of schedule, was an opportunity to maintain their constitutional rights, and completely corresponds to the international standards. Alongside with supervision over process of presidential elections in Uzbekistan I had an opportunity to exchange experience with the Uzbek colleagues. In a number of voting districts I became the witness of aspects worth to learn in preparation for elections. In any other country I did not observe such a high level of organization of elections.
