Visit of the Uzbek Delegation to Cambodia: Exchange of Experience within the “Better Work” Program
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 26 May 2025, representatives of the Uzbek tripartite delegation—including the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, the Federation of Trade Unions, the Confederation of Employers, and the Association “O‘zto‘qimachiliksanoat”—have been visiting the Kingdom of Cambodia as part of the “Better Work” program, implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
The “Better Work Uzbekistan” program is being carried out based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed on 30 May 2023. Currently, the program includes 12 enterprises from 5 regions, which receive consulting and training services. Negotiations are also underway regarding cooperation with global brands.
During the visit, meetings were held with the Ministry of Labour of Cambodia, the Employers’ Confederation (TAF TAC), and the Cambodian Trade Union Council. Participants discussed labor relations, freedom of association, vocational training, and tripartite dialogue in the textile and garment sectors.
The delegation also familiarized themselves with the operations of Berry Apparel and Sabrina factories, which collaborate with leading global brands such as GAP, H&M, C&A, NIKE, Primark, and others.
In Cambodia, the “Better Work” program has been operating since 2001 under the name “Better Factories Cambodia (BFC).” It covers more than 660 factories and 645,000 workers, contributing to increased productivity and reduced gender inequality.
This visit aims to facilitate the implementation of international standards in Uzbekistan’s textile industry and to enhance its competitiveness in the global market.
