Currently, the TeliaSonera group offers mobile services in the Nordic and Baltic countries, Spain and the emerging markets of Eurasia. In total, TeliaSonera operates in 20 countries with a combined population of over 460 million people, nearly 200 million of whom are subscribers of companies belonging to the TeliaSonera. In Uzbekistan, the TeliaSonera corporation is represented under the brand Ucell, known to all residents of the country since June 2008.
During the meeting of Lars Nyberg with Director General of the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information H. Mirzakhidov it has been noted that TeliaSonera is the fastest growing mobile operator in the Eurasian region. The sides discussed issues of further fruitful mutual cooperation and development of business relationships that would encourage investment by TeliaSonera in the republic.
Lars Nyberg, in particular, noted that being a good innovator, Ucell was one of the first in the country to test the connection of new generation (4G standard), and for the past three years several times increased the amount of data transfer services. The company intends to continue development and implementation of new and advanced technologies in the field of telecommunications services, which puts Uzbekistan on par with the developed nations of the world.
It was emphasized that TeliaSonera, represented by Ucell, is ready to make every kind of contribution to the development of private entrepreneurship, creating new jobs, providing businesses and citizens of Uzbekistan with the latest communication technologies.
The head of TeliaSonera visited Ucell-Café, which opened in 2012. He appreciated the novelty - in this Internet cafe every visitor can not only taste delicious food from the best chefs of the capital, but also try out new communications devices, assess the quality of high-speed Internet.
During the meeting with the staff of Ucell, Lars Nyberg focused on the prospects for further improvement of moral motivation of employees in Uzbekistan related to training, active implementation of self-development programs, provision of social benefits.
During Lars Nyberg’s visit to Tashkent, there was also introduction of the new CEO of Ucell. Ali Agan has taken the post, who so far has been the General Director of Azercell - mobile operator of TeliaSonera group in Azerbaijan.
Addressing to the staff, the new head of Ucell said that he appreciated the contribution to development of the leading mobile operator in Uzbekistan, made by Oguz Memiguven, who had headed Ucell since 2008. Growth of customer base up to 8 million subscribers and a dynamic increase in the share of the mobile market in Uzbekistan is the evidence of hard work and dedication of the personnel of the company.
Burgeoning business dialogue between Uzbekistan and transnational telecommunication company TeliaSonera implies further active work of Ucell employees, whose efforts will be adequately evaluated, Lars Nyberg concluded.
