Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 March 2019, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with the mission of the International Monetary Fund headed by Ms. A. Sayeg (Department of Budgetary Affairs of the IMF) in the framework of providing technical assistance to improve transparency in the fiscal area and improving reporting on government finance statistics. The visit of the IMF experts will last until 5 April 2019.

This IMF mission is the continuation of work within the framework of the reforms launched in 2018, the purpose of which is to increase the transparency and openness of the budget process, to ensure the availability of budget data for the public, foreign investors and other stakeholders, as well as increasing citizen participation in the budget process.

During the visit, the IMF experts will meet with representatives of relevant ministries and departments to discuss further recommendations on defining short-term and long-term plans, as well as priorities for the development of the public finance management system in Uzbekistan.

In addition, it is planned to hold a seminar with the participation of international experts for representatives of ministries and departments, budget funds managers, as well as state enterprises and other organizations, which will highlight the ongoing reforms in the area of ​​improving government finance statistics and ensuring budget transparency; changes in the reporting procedure by budget managers.

At the same time, within the framework of the visit, a master class is planned for students of the Banking and Finance Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
