Vertical system of professional development for preschool and school education staff to be established in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – According to the Presidential resolution “On Additional Measures to Improve the System of Continuous Professional Development of Staff in Preschool and School Education Organizations" (Decree No. 231 dated June 21, 2024), starting from 1 January 2025, the following procedure for professional development of staff in preschool and school education organizations will be implemented:

- A vertical system (ministry – qualification improvement institution – educational organization) of continuous professional development will be established based on differentiated educational programs tailored to the professional needs and qualification categories of staff in preschool and school education organizations.

- Courses for professional development will be introduced for staff in preschool and school education organizations, to be conducted once every 5 years with time off from work.

Starting from 1 January, 2025, to ensure continuity in the professional development of pedagogical staff and specialists in all general secondary educational institutions, forms of qualification improvement such as "Hour of Professional Development" will be gradually implemented, while in key general secondary educational institutions, "Day of Professional Development" will be introduced.

From 1 July 2024, documents of staff in preschool and school education organizations regarding completion of training courses or internships abroad (diploma, certificate, license, and others) will be recognized as proof of qualification improvement in the national system of continuous professional development.

By 1 January 2025, at least one foreign specialist who has graduated from reputable foreign higher educational institutions will be engaged in the Institute and Regional Centers.
