Verdict delivered in the case of the Sergeli warehouse explosion

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A verdict has been delivered in the case regarding the warehouse explosion in the Sergeli district of Tashkent. Four defendants were found guilty of violating fire safety regulations, resulting in the death of a person.

On 28 September 2023, an explosion occurred at the warehouse of the logistics company Inter Logistics in the Sergeli district. Tragically, a teenager lost their life, 150 people sustained minor injuries, and 13 suffered serious injuries.

The explosion also damaged 1,370 apartments in 39 high-rise buildings, 246 private houses, school No. 305, and kindergarten No. 600. The total damage was estimated at 282 billion soums.

The warehouse stored chemicals, construction materials, and other products in violation of storage regulations. Flammable materials, such as paper, were stored nearby.

On 11 October, the Mirabad District Court of Tashkent sentenced four individuals: F. Saitdinov, Director of LLC JV "Inter Logistics," F. Abdurakhimov, Head of Security, S. Bakhramov, Director of LLC "POLYCHEM," and K. Nazarov, Warehouse Manager of LLC "POLYCHEM."

The court found F. Saitdinov guilty of violating fire safety regulations, resulting in the loss of life, and sentenced him to five years in prison. He is also banned from holding leadership positions or engaging in fire safety-related activities for two years.

F. Abdurakhimov, S. Bakhramov, and K. Nazarov received identical sentences—five years of imprisonment and a two-year ban on holding leadership positions.

All convicts will serve their sentences in a settlement colony.
