Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uztekstilprom Association joined the UN Global Compact on 7 November 2022, which was announced in the address of the executive director of the organization, Sanda Ojiambo.

This initiative brings together thousands of business and other stakeholders from civil society, trade unions and government from 160 countries. From Uzbekistan, its participants are the Korzinka supermarket chain, Artel Electronics LLC (Artel), Silverleafe Company.

The aim of the initiative is to mobilize a global movement of sustainable companies and stakeholders to create the world we want.

In this regard, the UN Global Compact helps companies conduct business responsibly by aligning their strategies and operations with the ten principles of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption, and take strategic action to achieve broader societal goals such as the Goals. UN in the field of sustainable development with a focus on cooperation and innovation. By becoming a member of the UN GC, the organization accepts voluntary obligations to comply with these fundamental principles in its activities.

In turn, participants acquire new business contacts around the world, competitive advantages in developed markets, as well as the opportunity to participate in international events and implement UN global projects.

In addition, UNGC experts’ consultations and training events in the field of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development become available to participants.

Earlier, on 20 June, the Association applied for membership in the UN GC, and on 19 August, a meeting was held with its representative on the issue of attracting industry enterprises to the initiative and holding training seminars for them.
