Uzpromstroybank joins MoneyGram International
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- MoneyGram International started to render remittance services through 100 branches of open joint stock commercial bank “Uzbek industrial-construction bank” (Uzpromstroybank), one of the oldest state banks of Uzbekistan.

Joining of Uzpromstroybank to the system will allow strengthen position of the company in Uzbekistan and will make it one of the largest money transfer systems in the region. The clients can send or receive money at any 1,348 service points of MoneyGram in Uzbekistan.

Kamron Alimov, director of department on foreign economic activity of Uzpromstroybank, said that reliable brand of MoneyGram and global coverage makes it one of competitive systems in local market. He said that the cooperation of sides will allow clients to send and receive money easily.

Yevgeniy Butyugin, regional director MoneyGram on Russia, Belarus and Central Asia, the demand to money transfer services in Uzbekistan is in high level. Uzbekistan receives more money than any other country in the region. According to the Central Bank of Russia, the volume of remittances from Russia to Uzbekistan made up US$4.3 billion in 2011, which grew by 50% year-on-year, he added. That’s why, the company is interested in expanding its network in Uzbekistan, he added.

Currently, MoneyGram cooperates with 22 banks in Uzbekistan. In the end of 2011, the company started to work with Agrobank, Asaka Bank, Aloqa Bank, Davr Bank and in early 2012 with Asia Alliance Bank, People’s Bank of Uzbekistan, Orient Finans Bank and National Bank of Uzbekistan for Foreign Economic Activity.
