UZMOBILE installs 140 base stations in 2013
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Mobile communication operator UZMOBILE, a subsidiary of Uzbektelecom joint stock company, installed 140 base stations of CDMA-450 standard in 2013, the director-general of Uzbektelecom Abdurashid Abdumuminov said.

In his interview infoCOM.uz Abdumuminov said that the coverage of settlements of Uzbekistan with the CDMA-450 network reached 71% due to installation of new base stations.

Director-general of Uzbektelecom said that the growth of subscriber base of UZMOBILE in 2013 made up 195% compared to 2012.

He said that the company plans to implement a project “Development of mobile network CDMA-450 with introduction of EVDO technologies in the regions of Uzbekistan” in 2014.

Within the project, it is planned to install 201 base stations and modernize 114 existing base stations with EVDO technology. In the result, the coverage of CDMA-450 network in Uzbekistan will reach 85%.

The project is implemented with attraction of loan of the China Eximbank for US$17.47 million.

Abdurashid Abdumuminov said Uzbektelecom will also implement a project “Developing fibre broadband network on FTTx technologies” in 2014. Within the project, the company will continue to develop optic fibre broadband access via FTTx technology, which will increase subscriber ports by 110,000 units.

The project is also implemented with attraction of the loan of China Eximbank. The sum of the loan is US$11.92 million.
