Uzmetkombinat plans to produce 726,100 tonnes of steel in 2011
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbek Metallurgy Combine (Uzmetkombinat) open joint stock company plans to increase production of steel up to 726,100 tonnes in 2011, which is 1.21% more year-on-year.

Production of rolled metal will increase by 0.9% to 698,700 tonnes in 2011 and export of ready rolled metal – by 7.2% to 370,000 tonnes. The enterprise also plans to produce 177,000 tonnes of milling balls (+5.48%).

The company is also planning to utilize 43.4 billion soums of capital investments in 2011.

As reported earlier, the enterprise produced 717,400 tonnes of steel (+0.1%). It also manufactured and shipped 691,600 tonnes of ready rolled metal (+0.7%) and 167,800 tonnes of milling balls.

Uzmetkombinat exported 345,000 tonnes of metal-roll for US$167.8 million in 2010. Within the investment programme, the company utilized 38 billion soums.

Uzmetkombinat has been established in line with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan No. 159 from 24 March 1994 through re-organization of the state enterprise.

The enterprise specializes on processing ferrous metal scraps, production and realization of special iron, as well as other metal products and consumer goods.

Shareholders of Uzmetkombinat are the government (71.91%), labour (10%), National Bank of Uzbekistan for Foreign Economic Activity (3.85%), Avtosaninvestsavdo (3.85%), Navoi mining and metallurgy combine (3.85%), Almalyk mining and metallurgy combine (3.85%) and other individuals (2.69%).
