Uzmetkombinat conducts projects on modernization of capacities
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbek metallurgy combine joint stock production company (Uzmetkombinat) is implementing projects on modernization of production capacities and launching new products.

In 2011, the company is planning to complete a project on replacement of old block to new facility on air separation with the capacity of 87.6 million cubic meters of oxygen a year.

Te project implementation will allow to decrease metal smelting duration from 60 minutes to 55 minutes and save about US$3.8 million a year.

The launch of the facility will allow satisfy needs of the company in oxygen, liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon. Argon will be used in smelting of steel, which will allow to produce more quality steel grades.

The enterprise completed a project “Modernization of power equipment and system on automatic management of mill 300 of section rolling shop N. 2”. This will allow to increase reliability of the system and increase production of rolling mill, as well as products’ quality.

Uzmetkombinat completed construction of foundation for equipment, supplied by Nobag Nobs Engineering AG (Switzerland). The Swiss company installed equipment and training personnel. The enterprise produced first products such as copper and brass lines for automobile industry. The project on replacing out-dated equipment at steel melting and rolled capacities are in final stage.

In 2011, Uzmetkombinat is planning to start production of new products – hot-rolled equal angels, various radiator copper and brass lines. The plant plans tointroduce various energy saving equipments, which will cut power use by 5%.

In nine months of 2010, Uzmetkombinat produced 559,600 tonnes of steel, delivered 543,800 tonnes of rolled metal and produced consumer goods for 14.2 billion soums. Within the localization programme, it manufactured goods for 96 billion soums.
