UzLiDeP discusses draft law “On mandatory insurance of civil liability of transporters”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP) discussed a draft law “On mandatory insurance of civil liability of transporters” at the roundtable.

The roundtable was organized by the faction of the party in Legislative Chamber and the Committee on Legislative Chamber on industry, construction and trade.

MPs, representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, ministries and departments, insurance companies and others participated in the event.

It was said that adoption of the law will guarantee compensation for damage to their life, health and property of passengers at all transport means in Uzbekistan through insurance of liabilities of the transporters.

Currently, insurance for damage to health of passengers is ensured with the law of Uzbekistan “On mandatory personal insurance of passengers of air, railway, internal water and automobile transport of general use”. The study of the law shows that it does not meets modern requirements.

The UzLiDeP members provided their recommendations and proposals to improve the draft law and eliminate contradictions.

They also considered the best practices of the foreign states in this area, in particular, the EU states, Canada, Japan, CIS states and others.

At the discussions, the UzLiDeP determined its position on the draft law, which envisages that passengers will receive compensation in case of damage to their lives, health and property. The insurance companies will create pool to provide insurance services in this area. The draft law sets requirements to insurance companies, who will provide services in this area. For example, they should have branches in all regions of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan and set volume of insurance reserves.

At the event, it was said that UzLiDeP will continue to work on improving the draft law to ensure that consumers will receive quality services.
