Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 6 January, a regular meeting of the Central Election Commission was held, in which members of the CEC, senior officials and media representatives took part. The meeting was chaired by the chairman of the Central Election Commission Mirzo-Ulugbek Abdusalamov.
The agenda of the meeting included the results of the re-voting held in 25 constituencies for the election to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and the registration of elected deputies.
As already noted, as of 21 December 2019, out of 750 candidates for deputies, 6 were removed from the list, in connection with the applications submitted by them, of their own free will. Thus, 744 candidates representing 5 political parties fought for 150 seats in parliament.
According to the results of the elections and according to the decree of the Central Election Commission from 25 December 2019 "On the registration of deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis", candidates elected by deputies of the Legislative Chamber were registered in 125 electoral districts to conduct elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
According to the decree of the Central Election Commission from 25 December 2019 "On the re-voting in some constituencies", in 25 constituencies for the election of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis in connection with the failure to identify the winners in the first round. The re-voting took place on 5 January.
On 5 January, the process of re-voting took place in 25 constituencies, at 1,730 polling stations. In these areas, 3 million 147 thousand 79 voters were included in the Unified Electronic Voter List, of which 1 million 978 thousand 48 voters participated in the repeat voting, which amounted to 62.8 percent.
Repeated voting was also held in 95 electoral districts, at 1104 polling stations for conducting elections to the regional Kengashes of people's deputies and in 587 electoral districts, at 1117 polling stations for holding elections in the regional and city Kengashes of people's deputies.
In accordance with article 59 of the Electoral Code, a candidate who receives more votes than another candidate is considered elected.
During the repeat voting, the percentage of participation of voters is not taken into account. The process of re-voting was observed by more than 5 thousand observers from political parties and self-government bodies of citizens. It was noted that the process was widely covered by domestic and foreign media accredited by the CEC, including by local journalists accredited by the territorial election commissions.
Of the 50 candidates who participated in the second vote, 15 represent UzLiDep, 11 the Democratic Party of Milliy Tiklanish, 10 SDP Adolat, 9 PDPU and 5 Ecological Party of Uzbekistan.18 candidates out of 50 were women.
During the meeting, a decision was made to summarize the results of the second vote in some (25) constituencies for elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and the registration of elected deputies. Thus, according to the results of the first round and re-voting, that is, in general, following the results of the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the distribution of deputy seats is as follows:
The movement of entrepreneurs and business people, the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan receives 53 seats,
Democratic Party of Uzbekistan "Milliy Tiklanish" 36 seats,
Social Democratic Party "Adolat" 24 seats,
People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan 22 places
Ecological Party of Uzbekistan 15 seats.
According to the Electoral Code, the registration of elected deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the CEC is based on protocols received from district election commissions. From the day of registration of an elected deputy by the Central Election Commission, the deputy receives the status of a deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
Persons elected as deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis must inform the Central Election Commission in writing of the removal of functions and tasks that contradict the status of a deputy of the Legislative Chamber.
