UzHydromet Issues Flood and Mudflow Warning for Mountainous Regions of Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting (UzHydromet) has issued an emergency weather warning due to adverse conditions expected in the coming week.
According to meteorologists, from 10 to 16 June 2025, heavy rainfall is forecast in the foothill and mountainous regions of the country, significantly increasing the risk of mudflows and flash floods.
The following regions are expected to experience potentially hazardous hydrometeorological conditions:
Kashkadarya Region: Yakkabagh, Dehkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shakhrisabz, Kamashi, Guzar
Surkhandarya Region: Sariasiy, Uzun, Altinsay, Denau, Baysun, Sherabad, Shurchi, Kumkurgan, Muzrabat
Samarkand Region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurabad, Koshrabad, Kattakurgan, Payarik, Jambay, Ishtikhan
Jizzakh Region: Zaamin, Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharof-Rashidov, Farish, Yangiabad
Tashkent Region: Akhangaran, Bostanlik, Parkent, Pskent, Urtachirchik, Yukorichirchik, and the cities of Angren and Almalyk
Namangan Region: Pap, Kasansay, Chartak, Chust, Namangan, Yangikurgan
Ferghana Region: Sokh, Shahimardan, Fergana, Besharik
Andijan Region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduk, Kurgantepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khojaabad, Markhamat, and the city of Khanabad
Heavy precipitation may lead to sudden rises in water levels in rivers, seasonal streams, and mudflow channels, as well as localized flooding in certain settlements.
UzHydromet strongly advises:
Residents in the listed areas to exercise heightened caution
Tourists and travelers to avoid visiting mountainous areas during the warning period
Drivers to remain vigilant when traveling on mountain and foothill roads
