Uzeltehsanoat: there are no plans to introduce an "anti-dumping duty" on imports

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Uzeltehsanoat Association commented on the latest decisions of the government and the president in the field of production and import of electrical equipment.

The Association’s appeal noted that the minutes of the meeting of government commission No. 118 dated 25 December 2023, containing proposals on measures to support the industry, do not have the status of a legal norm. It is intended to list the initiatives of electrical manufacturers and submit them to experts for review.

The association stressed that there are no plans to introduce an “anti-dumping duty” on imports, according to information from the government. They argue that the proposals in the protocol do not violate the interests of local manufacturers of electrical appliances and are not intended to lobby the interests of individual companies.

At the same time, certain initiatives were supported by a presidential decree, such as the extension of tax breaks for the industry until 2027. It is important to note that these benefits should be aimed at creating and modernizing production capacity, and not at dividends.

As a result of incentives, 172 investment projects with a total value of US$457.4 million were implemented in 2021-2023.

Taxes in the amount of 1.9 trillion soums were paid to the state budget; 10.9 thousand new jobs were created for the population.

In 2023 alone, the industry produced 6.4 million units of products worth 7.6 trillion soums. The export volume amounted to US$1.047 billion.
