UzCard and UnionPay to issue co-branded cards
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Single National Processing Center (UzCard) and UnionPay International (China) signed an agreement on the issue of co-branded cards.

The document was signed during the visit of the delegation of UzCard to China. Within the framework of the meeting of the representatives of the two organizations, the parties discussed issues on issuing co-branded cards that will accept payment of the two payment systems. One of the most important points of the agreement was determination of the first member bank to issue dual cards.

The sides decided that Aloqbank will be the settlement bank and UnionPay International’s first co-branded cards will be issued in this bank, the press service of UzCard reports.

UzCard said that the co-branded cards will be issued from 1 July. The signed agreement between the two companies will allow using dual cards both in the territory of Uzbekistan, under the single payment system UzCard, and outside, under the payment system UnionPay International.

At the moment, equipment for embossing cards has been purchased. To date, the first co-branded cards have already been released in a test mode in cooperation with the above-mentioned parties to the agreement.

It should be added that Bank Ipak Yuli, Qishloq Qurirish Banki, Agrobank, OFB, Infinbank, Hamkorbank, NBU are at the stage of integration.

Also, active work is underway to reinstall the software of all POS-terminals. This means that very soon all POS-terminals will accept international UnionPay International cards.

All ATMs, accepting UzCard cards, have passed international certification and are preparing to service UnionPay cards. It is worth to clarify that ATMs operate in 24/7 mode, and the users can find out which of them accepts UnionPay cards with the help of a logo attached to the device.
